Children Folk Group Podpolancek started to write its history in 1974. In those times it was known as hobby group Ratolest. They worked at the Pioneer´s House (now it is the Centre of Free Time Trend) in Detva. During its long history there were many excellent people who worked in both dance and music section.

Children Folk Group Podpolancek prepare their repertoire and ideas not only from home materials of Podpolanie, but also from the materials of other Slovak regions. They present their art in many festivals and competitions in Slovakia and abroad.

In 2014 the group had to change its name from original Children Folk Group Ratolest into the new Children Folk Group Podpolancek.  This was the important point in its history.
